The Toussian, Tusyan
The Toussian are a small ethnic group that inhabits the extreme southwestern part of Burkina Faso.
>> The Sembla and Bobo surround them, to the northeast, the Karaboro and Tyefo (Senoufo groups) to the north.
>> Closely related to the Senoufo, they share a common Voltaic language, similar religious beliefs, village structure as well as political systems.
>> The Toussian are most known for their Loniake plank masks worn during initiation ceremonies.
>> Masks depicting wonderful stylized zoomorphic subjects are less common and less known.
